Aadhaar Card Download for First-Time Users: Everything You Need to Know

The Aadhaar card, issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), is a 12-digit unique identification number that serves as proof of identity and address across India. Whether you’re opening a bank account, getting a new mobile connection, or accessing government subsidies, your Aadhaar is essential.

For first-time users, the Aadhar card download process can seem confusing, but it’s actually simple if you follow the right steps. This guide explains everything you need to know to download your Aadhaar quickly and securely.

Who Can Download Aadhaar?

If you’ve successfully enrolled at an Aadhaar Enrollment Centre and your Aadhaar has been generated, you can download an e-Aadhaar, a digital version of your Aadhaar card. This e-Aadhaar is legally valid and accepted everywhere just like the physical card.

Pre-requisites for Downloading Aadhaar

Before you begin the download process, make sure you have:

  • Enrollment ID (EID): This is a 28-digit number found on the acknowledgment slip you received during Aadhaar enrollment.
  • Aadhaar Number (UID): If your Aadhaar has already been generated.
  • Virtual ID (VID): A temporary 16-digit number that can be generated via UIDAI.

You’ll also need:

  • Registered Mobile Number: To receive the OTP (One Time Password) for verification.

Note: You cannot download Aadhaar if your mobile number is not registered with UIDAI. In that case, visit the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
